“Game-based learning is one teaching approach that’s become quite popular recently. The existing game, however, is merely a fun game without a particular learning method underpinned in it. This study attempts to investigate the effect of game-based learning that was developed based on problem-solving methods and on students cognitive and affective aspects. Ninety-six students of grade eight (M = 13.5; SD = 0.5 year) from an Indonesian school were randomly selected to participate in this study. Performance on cognitive and affective aspects were measured using tests and questionnaires. The data was analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative methods. Results indicated that students who were exposed to the game-base learning within problem-solving methods, obtain positive effect on cognitive and affective aspects. Through this research, it provided evidence that the use of educational games could support and increase the mathematics learning outcomes.”
